Lake Havasu City, AZ
A quirky little city tucked in the middle of some of our favorite travel destinations…
Gear up for some great mountain biking, hiking, boating, all-terrain-riding FUN when you pass through Lake Havasu. It is loaded with outdoor activities, most famous for water sports but the off-roading trails are also a big highlight. Expect to see classic cars roaming the streets, glamorous speedboats, and spectacular sunrises.
We spent 5 months in Lake Havasu City, AZ for a travel nursing contract but I still didn't feel confident enough to give a true full-time residents perspective so I got the help from @whitpod, a mom of 3 little ones that resides in Lake Havasu City.
SARA'S PARK- This park has a lot to offer. Our favorite hike was Sara's Crack (Try not to giggle when you tell people the trail name). It had a nice little slot canyon that the kids enjoyed and we even saw Mountain Goats climbing the cliff edge. There are also some great mountain biking trails - for beginners we suggest "Friends of the Rodeo Loop" and for intermediate riders "Sonny's Downhill" or "Cosmic". Check here to see if there are any events when visiting!
OFF-ROADING- If you have older kids or a chance to get out and adventure, consider taking out your own or renting a dirt bike/ ATV/UTV to really get the whole Lake Havasu experience!
ROTARY PARK - This park is packed with fun for the whole family! It has sandy "beachfront" picnic areas at the lake, THREE great playgrounds, and the greatest hit of all; the skate park. The skate park is free and open to all ages and wheels (scooters, rollerbladers, skateboarders, bikers, you name it!). There are a lot of fun events that happen year-round so click here to find out if any are happening during your stay.
THE LAKE - Duh! Beautiful Lake Havasu has many access points. If you want to lounge on the beach and test your toes in the water than we suggest Rotary Park but there also boat rentals, paddle boarding, and kayaking!
LONDON BRIDGE - Perhaps one of the most notable parts of Lake Havasu is that it is home to the REAL London Bridge; yep, they barged it over brick-by-brick in 1967. Crazy right? There is a nice little walkway underneath that leads to eateries or walk across the bridge (bring a lock!).
AQUATIC CENTER - Wave pool, splash pad, and giant tube slide! This is the perfect place to escape the heat (or wind) and is fun for all ages!
College Street Brewery - After a full day of outdoor activities enjoy a cold brew and some delicious food.
PZA - Pizza, need I say more?
Scoops! - A refreshing treat after a day of adventure!
